The Heathfield and Herstmonceux branch was created relatively recently, in January 2016. Following the rise in party membership following the 2015 general election result, it became viable to constitute a branch of the Labour party across our area of East Sussex.
Since then we’ve held our first AGM, formally appointed branch officers and organised local campaigns against reduced library access. Members of the Heathfield branch have also helped our neighbours over in Battle branch contest a district council by-election.
The branch has the following objectives;
- To work to ensure that local elections are contested and voters offered a Labour candidate.
- To provide an outlet for members to discuss local issues, share ideas and take action where appropriate.
- To establish a social media presence via website, Facebook, Twitter.
- To provide a means for members to establish local ties.
- To support the CLP.
